VOCM Cares Foundation contribution of $500
Kelly Reid, Executive Director of the VOCM Cares Foundation recently announced a contribution of $500 towards the HUMANIMATION Workshop and the Nickel Children's Matinee on June 26, 2010 at 1 pm. Proceeds from this matinee will benefit the St. John's Boys and Girls Club.

Opening Night Highlights
The opening night screening of Nickel 10 brought with it greetings from Culture Minister Terry French and Canadian Heritage officer Ann Anderson and the special presentation of a lifetime festival pass to founder Roger Maunder. In accepting the sparkling token of appreciation for his work, Roger thanked the whole community for their support of the festival and encouraged others to get involved in the Nickels future. Then followed a 90-minute slate of short films that had the LSPU Hall capacity crowd buzzing at the after-show reception sponsored by Best Boy Productions.

Outdoor Screenings
The Nickel Independent Film Festival and Downtown St. John’s are holding a series of outdoor screenings every Monday night in July!
Starting July 5th with the Season Finale of Republic of Doyle, plus a blooper reel.
July 12th will be an evening of 8 Newfoundland short films, a little something for everyone.
July 19th we will show the hilarious rock n' roll crime comedy, The Bingo Robbers.
July 26th we close the month with the award-winning documentary, My Ancestors were Rogues and Murderers.
These screenings will take place in the parking lot below the Ship...
