Norris Point, NL, Canada September 28-October 1, 2012
The Fishing for the Future Film Festival will mark the 20th anniversary of the closure of Newfoundland and Labrador's northern cod fishery, and will provide an opportunity to celebrate and learn from past and present film and video work on maritime communities, oceans, marine fisheries and aquaculture in Canada and around the world.
The Festival will include two sets of live screenings and an online component curated by internationally known documentary producer Chris Brookes. The first live screening will take place in St. John's, NL, Canada at Memorial University, July 5 to 7, 2012. The second screening will take place in Norris Point on Newfoundland's west coast in the heart of Gros Morne Park from September 28 to October 1, 2012. This screening will be timed to coincide with the Rebuilding Collapsed Fisheries Symposium taking place there.
The Festival is organized by the Community-University Research for Recovery Alliance (CURRA) in partnership with the Nickel Independent Film Festival.
