Costume Design with Melanie Mooney (1pm start)
In this workshop SKEET costume designer Melanie Mooney discusses the different strategies she uses for approaching the costume design of any project. Participants will learn practical tips and techniques for unlocking creativity, and for elevating your costumes on a tight budget.
The Visual Art of Filmmaking with Vaida Nairn (2pm start)
In this session, Vaida discusses cinema as a form of poetry, where visual storytelling transcends words to evoke emotion and meaning. She explores ways to use imagery, composition, and movement to create a lyrical and immersive experience.
What makes a good cue? A case study scoring Skeet with Andrew Staniland (3pm start)
We all know what we like and don’t like when it comes to music. But is there any consensus on what makes a good cue? With this question in mind, Composer Andrew Staniland will lead a workshop examining the score to SKEET, focusing on a scene scored a few different ways. We will discuss the transformative impact that music can have on story and emotion through the lenses of music to picture enhancement, compositional craft, creativity & originality, pacing, and production quality.
Directing with Jamie Miller (4pm start)
You’ve heard of fix it in post, but in this session, participants will learn the creative value of fix it in prep. From translating scripts into compelling visual narratives to juggling the collaborative process, Director Jamie Miller discusses her filmmaking philosophy, and the practical and creative planning and prep techniques you can use to bring your film to life.
