With Alana Nastold
How did this film come together?
I created "Oblivion" for my final project in uni. The animations include analogue elements such as prints (monotypes & etchings) and charcoal drawings mixed with digital frame by frame bits.
Did anything unexpected happen as you were making this film?
My theme (the fear of growing up) resulted in me being confronted with a lot of existential questions and personal feelings. Because of that it was a very emotional process for me and sometimes a bit challenging.
What's the best filmmaking advice you've ever received?
Not to worry too much and not to overthink it all. I tend to have a very clear idea of what I want and how I want it. But with the way I do art my work often develops its own life. I had to learn to appreciate the unexpected and sometimes very different results.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
"Oblivion" is very dear to my heart since I not only created the whole film/music video myself but also wrote the song (available on streaming platforms). Because of that it makes me extremely happy when a film festival decides to give my art an audience and a voice.
