Q&A: Any Mummers 'Lowed In??

Q&A: Any Mummers 'Lowed In??
With Cullam Bruce-Lockhart

How did this film come together?
After really enjoying and learning a lot from several Nickel from challenges, we decided to try filming one of our own, without waiting for a prompt. It was nearly Christmas, so we did some rapid brain storming, and decided to try a creepy take on Mummers. We were already all decorated for Christmas anyway!

Did anything unexpected happen as you were making this film?
We were shooting this film over three sessions, over the course of a few days. We did our first session, while still working out a few details about how the film would play out. We came to the conclusion that we weren't entirely comfortable with one of the implications, and decided to pivot on exactly how the story would go. But we'd already started shooting, and didn't have time to go back! So we had to carefully come up with new ideas that wouldn't change anything we'd already shot, and wouldn't throw us off schedule! But we were very pleased with how it worked ou.

What's the best filmmaking advice you've ever received?
Just showing up to a location and getting started takes a couple of hours (even with our simple crew and setup). So minimize how much you have to do that, and you'll get a lot more done!

Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Ever since getting a real taste of filmmaking through making Daystreamer: A Physically Distant Musical, we've been having a ton of fun learning and experimenting. We're so delighted to be officially participating in this festival, which we've previously done so much with, in the just-for-fun areas.
