Q&A: Pegasus

Q&A: Pegasus
With Jean-erasme Giudicelli

How did this film come together?
This film was born from a desire for freedom.

Did anything unexpected happen as you were making this film?
Yes, particularly related to the weather and the horse. In springtime, the weather in France is very unstable — it can rain and then turn sunny just a few minutes later. This made continuity for outdoor scenes quite tricky. But the most striking moment was the arrival of the horse. He was supposed to appear in an important scene on the road, scheduled for the next day. But he arrived earlier than expected, after a three-hour drive. He was tired, unsettled, not yet ready to shoot... And yet, when the camera rolled, it was as if he aligned with the energy on set. It felt like he somehow understood that this scene mattered. He gave it his all, with an incredible presence. We all felt he knew, in his own way, that we were counting on him.

What's the best filmmaking advice you've ever received?
The more the preparation has been worked on, the smoother the shoot will go

Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Thank you to the organizers of this great festival for selecting my film. I’m truly honored.
