2002 Nickel printed program

To celebrate the Nickel's 25th year were looking back at stuff from past festivals because, dammit, it's fun to get a little wistful sometimes.

Continuing on with festival programs, here's one — in colour! — from the second edition in 2002.

Roger Maunder and friends pulled out the big guns that year by hosting the legendary Canadian icon Gordon Pinsent. Yes, Babar himself. They held a screening of 1972 classic Newfoundland film The Rowdyman and hosted a Q&A afterwards.

Waiting for Fidel was another local classic shown at the festival, accompanied by a pre-taped Q&A with yet another legendary local icon, Geoff Stirling.

Elsewhere in the festival lineup, you'll see a video from up-and-coming local band Bucket Truck, early work from Adrianna Maggs, Scott McLellan, Lisa Porter, Rhonda Buckley, Darcy Fitzpatrick, plus what might be the best John Deere excavator dance film you've ever seen, Pretty Big Dig by Anne Troake.
