DIY Sci-Fi Challenge 2026

Make a sci-fi short film between June 11–21, 2026. Free, open to all, and not a contest. Finish a film and receive two free passes to the festival, happening June 22–28 at the LSPU Hall in St. John's.

How It Works

1. On June 11, we email you two completely optional creative prompts. Use one as a jumping-off point if you'd like, or ignore them entirely.
2. Write, shoot, and edit your film between June 11–21. Max 5 minutes, titles and credits included.
3. Upload your finished film by 6:30pm on June 21 to qualify for the screening.
4. All valid entries will screen at the Nickel Independent Film Festival, June 22–28.
5. Participants under 18 require parental or guardian consent.
