Right Here in King's Point (2026)
SEPTEMBER 30, 2026
Here is a collection of the short films and interviews created by the Nickel team and residents of the Green Bay area in August 2026. This was our fourth edition of Right Here in King's Point, and our fifth year returning to this lovely community in central Newfoundland. The Nickel Independent Film Festival's Right Here project brings authentic community film festivals to rural areas of Newfoundland and Labrador. Over the years we've held them in King's Point, Rigolet, Hopedale and Nain. Our goal with this project is to celebrate the unique stories, traditions, and people that make each community distinct. No fancy equipment, no big budgets—just local storytelling driven by people who know these places best. We spent one week of August 2026 in King's Point (population 651) making these short films with members of the community. Special thanks to community changemaker Travis Richards for being the reason this happens every year, and thank you to the Alexander Murray Trail Association for hosting our screenings at their wonderful facility and co-presenting this event. The Nickel team this year was Mike Fardy, Etta Cessac-Sinclair, Owen Finn and Elling Lien.
